"Flashback" - A Father's Dream Project!

Welcome to project "Flashback", the car that started Screamin' Chicken Chasers (SCC). You can come along with us during the restorations of the 1977 Trans-Am that I am building for my youngest son, Mason. My two boys are helping with the restoration.

"It is a dream project to be able to build a car with my two boys!" - Hooper

We start you off at the beginning with the first "chase" to get the car that started SCC. As you scroll down you will see our progress.

This section shows you the whole set of pictures from the start of this project to present day. There are several pictures on this page, so it may take a little while to load.

This picture was taken in 1995 just before she was sold.

  • The First "Chase"...SCC Begins

Here is the car that started it all. She had been sitting in the woods for 10 years just waiting.

This picture was taken in 2007 of the spot where we found her.

  • The Long Road Home

It was a long road home.

We loaded her up and headed for the house. We stopped on the way home and someone just drove up had to make sure that we were saving her.

  • Making a Nest

After we got her home, we started making a nest, and taking inventory of what we needed.

  • The Demo Begins

The demolition has began. You have to tear apart to rebuild.

This project is a complete frame-off restoration. These interior pictures were all taken just weeks before my horrible wreck on 12-12-07, which totaled my car and fractured two vertebras in my neck.

Progress has picked up. My sons and I have started taking the paint off down to the metal. Our focus, in the beginning, was on the firewall.

Once the firewall was under control, we started to move onto the passenger side.

  • 5-30-08

We decided to take a break for the weekend. Here are more pics of the firewall 90% complete and more of the roof and door taken down to metal.

Here are more pics of the roof and passenger door. We are very lucky on how good of shape the roof is in.

Today was such a nice day I rolled up the shop door and did some work while my boys enjoyed their Summer bike riding.

The pic below was taken today, but the work was done earlier this month. After a round of 120 grit the passenger side is looking better.

Today the driver side door was removed because we found one in better shape. This also made it easier to work on the interior. I have both of the original doors stored.

Once the passenger door bodywork is complete, it will be removed as well. She will receive two fresh rear quarter panels once the rest of the body work is nearly complete.

The rest of the interior is being removed so that we can change both floor pans from the front to the rear. The other tasks were to remove the wiring harness and all of the noise material and glue.

It was also time to start on the driver side of the roof.

The interior and roof work will continue soon.

Featured here is my youngest son Mason and his car.

  • 9-2-08

The family and I got back today from our Hurricane evacuation. We were VERY BLESSED with no damage even though the hurricane passed 45 minutes to 1 hour away from our home.

After I check the house over, I decided to clear my head and relax by getting some work done.

I had let this area sit a little too long, so I went back over it with 80 grit and then 120 grit.

    Stay tuned for more!

  • 9-15-08 After Hurricane Ike

Hurricane Ike has dampened our cars and not our spirits. Both cars suffered great damage due to the amount of water (a mix of salt and fresh) and mud that they took on. We have cleaned “Flashback”, my son’s car. My car “Overtime” will now become a donor car for his car.

We will update you as we can.
