SCC SCC would like for you to meet Gray Ghost and its owner "TransAmer99". Jim had been studying T/As while designing the TACH logo and got hooked on the idea of owning one, so Gray Ghost, a '80 Trans-Am, was purchased on Valentine's Day 1998 for a mere $750.
So, here's the lowdown: 301 normally aspirated engine, (code XW - factory rated at a shameful 140 HP); TH-350 auto with performance bump-shift option; 2.41 rear end. On two trips to Florida and back for STARS (Southern Trans Am Regional Show - 2nd in class both times), she averaged just over 18 mpg while cruising at times near triple digits at less than 2400 RPMs!
Jim made relatively minor modifications while restoring much of the car. The interior was gutted and replaced using parts from a donor, as well as, new rugs and headliner, a 160 mph unit from a '72 TA.
Future plans call for a Pontiac 400 built to performance specifications and a GM 12-bolt rear end to handle it.
Congratulations to "TransAmer99"!
Sept. 2008 - Having the Blues is Rare
Jimmy, "71blueta" never has the blues driving his blue '71 Trans-Am. His baby is a 4 speed, no A/C car with the rare rear console car.
She is original right down to the plugs and wires. There were only 83 blue cars with this combo, but only 1 with the rear console.

This car has never been titled! She was tucked away in a warehouse in Alabama for over 25 years. She had only 11,000 miles when purchased and now has 22,000 miles from going to charity car shows.
Congratulations to "blue71ta"!

July 2008 - "Chaser Getting Chased"
Here is the SCC Garage pick for the month of July.

She is a '79 Esprit. The car and its owner hail from jolly old England.
She belongs to "sir english firebird" from the SCC forum.
The car runs dual 4 barrels. All of the bodywork is done by the owner. Parts are pretty hard to come by in that part of the World, so he has to modify whatever he can find. By going through several pictures I can see that he has become a pro at it! His car is considered an exotic in England.

I am sure with "sir english firebird's" great sense of humor he was able to talk his way out of this.
Here are some videos of her in action:
Congratulations to "sir english firebird"!
June 2008 - "No Trailer Princess!"

The car is loaded with a 355 SBC 450hp TH350 tranny and a 3.42:1 posi in the rear. This Bird was last painted in 1994 and has never been in an accident. She's never seen snow, winter and was parked indoors during the summer also. He let us know that, “I got it with 108,500 kms on it and have put almost 24,000 kms on her in 2 summers!’ This ain't no trailer princess!”.
